Detailed Description

Beginning in January of 2017, they filled their new, charred American White Oak, 53 gallon barrels with new-make whiskey using their 51% corn, 49% wheat mash. While the new-make was created from their own grain in about 14 days, they knew they wouldnā€™t be seeing or tasting this whiskey for a long time. The moment has now arrived! Time and patience bring you a Kansas Bourbon worthy of the Boot Hill name. Boot Hill Bourbon is pot-distilled in 500 gallon batches. Hot, dry summers, bitter cold winters, and the obstinate Kansas wind all do the rest. What emerged from the barrel after its extended sleep exceeded expectations with notes of caramel, fruit, and spice. Their Bourbon is proofed to a pleasantly hot 90 (45% ABV) proof for the ideal balance of flavor and heat. Enjoy and enjoy often!

Boot Hill Distillery Bourbon Whiskey Tasting Notes

Nose: A very nice and strong scent of smoky oak and cedar, with a hint of a leathery smell. Also with a hint of vanilla and almost a caramel apple tone.

Palate: Very powerful taste of the smoky oak. There is definitely a nice aftertaste of the caramel and apple.

Finish: The pleasing finish incorporates cedar painted with fleshy stone fruit.

Distillery Information

Located on the site of the old Boot Hill Cemetery (bodies were moved to a new location in 1878), and in the former Municipal Building which opened on the site in 1929, Boot Hill Distillery takes great pride in their location and history. Owners Roger Kelman and Hayes J. Kelman, father and son, fourth and fifth generation farmers, plant, grow, and harvest all the grain used in their distillery. They state that their spirits are truly ā€œfrom soil to sip,ā€ and they are one of the few distilleries that can truly claim this.
