Nose: Clean coastal peat smoke with lemon zest, green apple and grapefruit. Maritime notes of sea salt and brine mingle with mineral oil, fresh malt, subtle vanilla and delicate herbal smoke.

Palate: Oily and powerful, with dry peat smoke, salted citrus and bright orchard fruit. Lemon oil, green apple and gentle sweetness are balanced by white pepper, mineral notes and a distinctive maritime character.

Finish: Long, smoky and increasingly coastal, with lingering ash, lemon peel, sea salt and gentle herbal notes. The finish remains clean and mineral, with persistent peat smoke and warming peppery spice.

Distillery Information

Caol Ila Distillery was founded in 1846 near Port Askaig on the east coast of Islay and has grown into one of Scotland's most important producers of peated single malt whisky. Its location overlooking the Sound of Islay has become closely associated with the whisky's distinctive maritime character. Caol Ila is known for producing a cleaner and more elegant style of peat smoke than many of Islay's heavier whiskies, combining smoky notes with citrus, fruit and mineral complexity. Much of its production has historically been used in major blended Scotch whiskies, while its single malt has become highly regarded among enthusiasts and independent bottlers. Thompson Bros of Dornoch has built a strong reputation for selecting distinctive casks and bottling whisky with natural colour and without chill filtration, often highlighting the pure character of the underlying distillate.
