A characterful 10-year-old Clynelish distilled on 5 January 2016 and bottled by Finn Thomson on 24 February 2026. Matured in a refill hogshead, the deliberately restrained cask influence allows the distillery's famously waxy and textured character to remain firmly at the forefront. Citrus, subtle orchard fruit and delicate sweetness are supported by mineral notes and gentle oak, creating a precise and uncompromising expression of young Clynelish. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 54.6% ABV, this limited single-cask release produced just 150 bottles.

Nose: Distinctive beeswax and candle wax with bright lemon zest, subtle citrus oils and fresh orchard fruit. Gentle mineral notes, soft honey and restrained oak add further depth without masking the spirit.

Palate: Full-bodied, oily and waxy, with bright citrus, subtle sweetness and firm mineral complexity. Orchard fruit and honeyed notes develop alongside gentle peppery spice, while the refill cask contributes soft structure rather than dominant oak.

Finish: Long, dry and persistent, with lingering beeswax, citrus peel, mineral notes and subtle oak. The waxy texture and restrained coastal character remain clearly defined as the whisky slowly fades.

Distillery Information

Established in 1819 by the Marquis of Stafford in 1819, Clynelish was one of the first purpose-built distilleries. In 1823, the distillery became legal under the Excise Act. Unfortunately due to the recession in 1931 the distillery closed and did not open again until the end of World War II.
