Whiskey: Colonel E.H. Taylor | Cured Oak | Straight Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey | 2026 Limited Release

The 2026 Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Cured Oak marks the highly anticipated return of one of Buffalo Trace Distillery's rarest and most innovative bourbons. First introduced in 2015 and absent for more than a decade, this exceptional limited release once again showcases Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor Jr.'s relentless pursuit of quality and innovation. Unlike traditional bourbons, Cured Oak derives its distinctive character from barrels crafted with American white oak staves that have been air-cured for 13 months—more than twice the distillery's standard seasoning period—resulting in extraordinary depth, complexity, and oak influence.

Colonel E.H. Taylor | Cured Oak | Straight Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey | 2026 Limited Release Tasting Notes

Nose: An inviting bouquet of rich toffee, vanilla bean, caramelized brown sugar, and seasoned oak is complemented by layers of dried figs, raisins, tobacco leaf, toasted almonds, and warm baking spices. Subtle hints of leather and orange peel add further depth and elegance.

Palate: Full-bodied and exceptionally balanced, delivering flavors of creamy vanilla, buttery caramel, dark honey, and toffee that evolve into cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, toasted oak, and dried stone fruits. The extended air-curing of the oak contributes a refined, mature wood character with notes of roasted nuts and a touch of cocoa.

Finish: Long, warming, and beautifully structured, with lingering notes of seasoned oak, sweet vanilla, baking spice, tobacco, and a gentle dry oak tannin that fades into hints of dark caramel and toasted wood.
