Compass Box Hedonism, The Muse Scotch Whisky

A limited edition release from Compass Box, re-imagining one of our favourite expressions from their range - Hedonism. Spurred by the discovery of an exceptional cask of pre-blended grain whisky (of unknown origin - mysterious!), the Compass Box team has created an astonishing expression showing off honey, marzipan and dried fruit notes. The label has been specially created to celebrate women in whisky - a fitting subject matter, considering that women make up the majority of the team at Compass Box, and it's thought that the original Hedonism label was the first whisky label to feature a woman.

Compass Box Hedonism, The Muse Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Hot cross buns with butter, coconut, butterscotch, pine resin, maple syrup and chocolate digestives.

Palate: Creamy vanilla and zesty orange peel, with mature oak developing. Peach, apricot and dried berries.

Finish: Chocolate ice cream, old leather and a hint of crystallised ginger.

Distillery Information

Compass Box is a producer, bottler and marketer of a range of blended Scotch whiskies. The company is headquartered in Chiswick. Compass Box Whisky was founded in 2000 by American entrepreneur John Glaser, a former marketing director at Johnnie Walker. Their main product line, called the Signature Range, consists of whiskies named 'The Spice Tree', 'The Peat Monster', 'Oak Cross', 'Asyla' and 'Hedonism'. Outside the Signature Range, they produce a range of Blended Scotch whiskies called 'Great King Street', within which there are two products: 'Artist's Blend' (a rich, round, fruity blend) and 'Glasgow Blend' (a bold, smoky, sherried whisky made in the style historically favoured by Glaswegians). They have also released several Limited Edition releases, such as 'Hedonism Maximus', 'Flaming Heart', 'Optimism', 'Morpheus' and the Canto Cask series. Apart from whiskies, they also produce 'Orangerie', made from whisky infused with orange zest and spices.
