Detailed Description

Craigellachie Golden Brown is a limited-edition 14-year-old single malt created in collaboration between British rock band The Stranglers and independent bottler Caskade Drinks. Named after the band's iconic 1982 song Golden Brown, the whisky was distilled at Craigellachie in Speyside and matured entirely in sherry casks. The rich cask influence complements Craigellachie's naturally muscular and weighty spirit, bringing together dark sweetness, roasted nuts, dried fruit and warming spice. Coffee, almond and raisin aromas lead into burnt toffee, dried orange peel and ginger, creating a bold and richly sherried collector's whisky.

Craigellachie Golden Brown (The Stranglers) 14 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich coffee, almond and raisin aromas lead the nose, hinting at sherry-cask depth and the whisky’s warm, weighty character.

Palate: Burnt toffee unfolds with glossy sweetness on the palate, threaded by dried orange peel and a lively ginger heat that lingers, under a sherry-kissed depth that finishes warm and confident.

Finish: Long and lingering, the finish coats the palate with burnt toffee and coffee, while dried orange peel and ginger drift in the background, leaving a warm, spice-kissed glow.

Distillery Information

Craigellachie was built in 1890, with production beginning in 1891, and was designed by Charles Doig for a consortium led by Alexander Edward and Peter Mackie. From the start it was closely tied to the White Horse blend, and that link shaped much of the distillery’s early history. Long known locally as the White Horse Distillery, Craigellachie later became part of Bacardi in 1998 through John Dewar & Sons.
