Detailed Description

This single cask comes to us from family-run indie bottler Hunter Laing & Co. Specially selected and bottled for the Heritage series in the Platinum Old & Rare Selection, this expression was distilled at Dailuaine in Speyside in 1973. Matured for almost five decades, it has been bottled at a natural cask strength of 45.1% abv free from all chill filtration and artificial colouring. Just 231 bottles have been produced of this limited edition.

Dailuaine 1973 46 Year Old Platinum Old & Rare Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: This golden whisky has a tropical nose of mango, guava, honey, apple blossom and Christmas markets.

Palate: The palate is sweet with notes of pineapple, figs, maraschino cherries and caramel sauce, with beeswax, almonds, and a herbal note.

Finish: The finish is long, dry and satisfying with lingering sweet oak.

Distillery Information

Dailuaine (Scottish Gaelic: Dail Uaine, [t?al'u???], "Green Meadow") is a single malt whisky distillery in Charlestown-of-Aberlour, Strathspey, Scotland. The Distillery was founded in 1852 by William Mackenzie. When he died in 1865 his widow leased the distillery to James Fleming, a banker from Aberlour. Together with William Mackenzie's son he founded Mackenzie and Company.
