Distilled at Dalmunach in 2016, this single malt spent nine years maturing, including time in a tawny Port cask. The cask was cracked open by Claxton's for its independent Warehouse No.1 collection, yielding 348 cask strength bottles.

Nose: Rich red berries, raspberry jam and ripe plum with honeyed malt, vanilla and sweet pastry. A gentle Port character brings dried fruit and a touch of wine-like richness.

Palate: Full and creamy, with strawberries, cherries, raisins and dark caramel. Sweet malt and vanilla sit beneath the fruit, while cinnamon, oak and subtle tannins add structure.

Finish: Long, warming and fruity, with lingering Port sweetness, red berries, raisins and gentle oak spice. A light drying tannic note gradually balances the richness.

Distillery Information

Dalmunach is one of Scotland’s newer distilleries, established in 2014 on the site of the former Imperial Distillery near Carron in Speyside. It was built by Chivas Brothers to supply malt whisky for blending, with production beginning in 2015. The distillery was designed around highly efficient modern production while retaining traditional copper-pot still distillation. Dalmunach has increasingly attracted attention from independent bottlers as its relatively young spirit develops into distinctive single-cask releases. Its whisky is generally associated with a light, sweet and fruity Speyside character that works particularly well with a variety of cask finishes.
