Deanston Distillery is located near Doune in the Scottish Highlands, beside the River Teith. The site originally operated as a cotton mill during the late eighteenth century before being converted into a whisky distillery in the 1960s, with distillation beginning in 1966. The distillery is known for its traditional production methods, unpeated malt spirit, and distinctive naturally waxy character. Its water supply comes from the River Teith, which also historically provided power for the original mill. Deanston combines traditional craftsmanship with a focus on natural ingredients and careful maturation, establishing its own identity within the Highland single malt category.
