A historic 30-year-old blend originally created by Gordon & MacPhail in 1996 under the Old Orkney name. The whisky matured together for three decades in a single refill Sherry Butt before being bottled by Decadent Drinks in 2026 at its natural strength. Rich, mature and distinctly waxy, it combines heather honey, dried fruits, crystallised fruit and gentle herbal tones. A rare revival of the Old Orkney Relics name and the final cask of the original Old Orkney blend.

Nose: Beeswax, camphor and mineral oil, followed by dried fruit, sultanas, shoe leather and cedar wood.

Palate: Soft and exceptionally easy-drinking, with waxy hessian, heather honey and generous dried and crystallised fruit.

Finish: Surprisingly long, glowing with heather honey, herbs and persistent waxy notes.

Distillery Information

Decadent Drinks is an independent whisky bottler founded by Angus MacRaild, known for preserving unusual and historic Scotch whisky styles through carefully selected mature casks. The Old Orkney name has roots in the former Stromness Distillery, which closed in the late 1920s. Gordon & MacPhail later became custodian of the Old Orkney brand and created a blended Scotch using a high proportion of Orkney malt. This 1996 blend represents the final cask of that original Gordon & MacPhail Old Orkney blend, giving the 2026 release an unusually strong connection to historic Orkney whisky.
