Detailed Description

A rich and deeply wine-influenced 18-year-old Edradour, distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2026 as part of the distillery's Small Batch series. Matured in first-fill Amarone hogsheads sourced from the renowned Dal Forno Romano winery in Valpolicella, the whisky combines Edradour's naturally robust and fruity Highland spirit with the concentrated character of Amarone wine. Stewed blackberries, ripe plums and black cherry are layered with muscovado sugar, dark chocolate and warming oak spice. Full-bodied and velvety, it delivers an opulent balance of dark fruit sweetness, cocoa richness and gently drying tannins.

Edradour Small Batch Amarone Cask 18 Year Old · 2007 Vintage Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Stewed blackberries and ripe plums, with muscovado sugar and dark berry sweetness. Gentle baking spices and mature oak add warmth beneath the rich Amarone influence.

Palate: Black cherry conserve and dark chocolate crème lead into concentrated berry fruit and velvety sweetness. Slow-building oak spice and rich tannins provide structure to Edradour's full-bodied, fruity spirit.

Finish: Long, rich and gently drying, with lingering dark fruit, cocoa and mature oak. Black and pink peppercorn spice emerges alongside deep Amarone tannins as the whisky slowly fades.

Distillery Information

Edradour was founded in 1825 near Pitlochry in the Scottish Highlands and has long been celebrated for its traditional small-scale approach to whisky making. The distillery is among Scotland's smallest traditional distilleries, using compact equipment, wooden washbacks and worm tubs to create a notably rich, weighty and fruity spirit. Its robust character makes Edradour particularly well suited to expressive cask maturation, including sherry, fortified wine and premium European wine casks. Today, the distillery is known for its extensive range of limited releases and experimental small-batch maturations, while retaining the traditional character that has made its whisky distinctive for generations.
