Gekkeikan is one of Japan's historic sake producers, with roots dating to 1637 in Fushimi, Kyoto. Fushimi is one of Japan's most important sake-producing districts, renowned for its soft, high-quality brewing water and centuries of brewing tradition. Gekkeikan developed its reputation through traditional sake-making techniques while continuing to introduce convenient modern formats such as Cap Ace.
