Girvan 18 Year Old 2007 Cask #2148119 - The Octave (Duncan Taylor) Single Grain Scotch Whisky | 700ML

This single grain Scotch whisky was distilled at Girvan in 2007 and spent the next 18 years maturing. The whisky was treated to a finish in a single little moscatel octave cask, bringing bright waves of tropical fruit and sweet stone fruit to the honeyed cereal notes at its heart. A total of 70 bottles join the independent Octave collection.

Nose: Vanilla custard, honey, toasted coconut, ripe pear, baked apple, butterscotch, white chocolate, citrus zest, polished oak, and delicate floral notes.

Palate: Creamy vanilla, caramel, honeycomb, shortbread, orchard fruits, toasted coconut, roasted almonds, cinnamon, gentle oak spice, and sweet cereals with a rich, velvety texture.

Finish: Long, smooth, and warming, with lingering vanilla, honey, coconut, toasted oak, soft baking spices, ripe fruit, and delicate cereal sweetness.

Distillery Information

In 1963, William Grant and Sons built the Girvan Distillery as a staple source of grain whisky for blending purposes. The distillery is sited within an unused munitions factory from World War Two, sited in the Lowlands. Girvan has an impressive production capacity of fifteen million litres annually. The Ladyburn distillery was built within the Girvan complex in 1966, though it shut in 1975. Aside from producing a blending component, Girvan also releases single grain whiskies, many of which have received wide acclaim. In 1995, the single grain Black Barrel was released in France, Spain and Portugal.
