Glorious Girvan single grain Scotch, distilled in November 2002 and matured in a single refill hogshead until September 2022. The cask was opened by independent bottler Douglas Laing, releasing a total of 230 bottles for its Old Particular collection.

Girvan 19 Year Old 2002 (cask 16487) - Old Particular (Douglas Laing) | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Layers of honeyed cereal, toasted nuts, and buttery oak, with fresh vanilla and distant notes of woody spice.

Palate: Juicy apricot, plum, and more creamy vanilla, with soaked oats and sponge cake. A tickle of nutmeg arrives in time.

Finish: Cooked apple, ginger biscuits, icing sugar, and orange butter.

Distillery Information

In 1963, William Grant and Sons built the Girvan Distillery as a staple source of grain whisky for blending purposes. The distillery is sited within an unused munitions factory from World War Two, sited in the Lowlands. Girvan has an impressive production capacity of fifteen million litres annually. The Ladyburn distillery was built within the Girvan complex in 1966, though it shut in 1975. Aside from producing a blending component, Girvan also releases single grain whiskies, many of which have received wide acclaim. In 1995, the single grain Black Barrel was released in France, Spain and Portugal.
