The second release of Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish increases the age statement to seven years and showcases the distillery’s unpeated single malt style. Created from a marriage of four hogsheads, the whisky was initially matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks for three years and ten months before spending a further three years and eleven months in Ruby Port casks. This unusually lengthy Port maturation brings a generous concentration of summer berries, dark cherries and creamy vanilla, complemented by marzipan and sweet almond.

Nose: Ripe summer berries and dark cherries combine with rich vanilla, marzipan and sweet almond.

Palate: Full and fruit-led, delivering layers of berry compote, juicy cherry and creamy vanilla, followed by soft marzipan and almond sweetness.

Finish: Lingering dark fruit and vanilla gradually give way to marzipan and a lasting sweet almond character.

Distillery Information

Glasgow Distillery was founded in 2012 by Liam Hughes and Mike Hayward, with the aim of bringing single malt Scotch whisky distilling back to Glasgow. The company takes its name from one of the city’s historic distilleries, founded in 1770 and closed in 1902, while the modern distillery operates from Hillington on the outskirts of Glasgow.
