Detailed Description

Distilled in 2015 and matured for 11 years in a single bourbon barrel, this Campbeltown single malt was selected by Douglas Laing for its Old Particular range. The bourbon cask brings out creamy vanilla, sweet orchard fruits, and gentle caramel, while Glen Scotia’s distinctive coastal character adds maritime freshness and a subtle smoky edge. Bottled at 48.4% ABV, it balances rich malt sweetness with oak spice and a touch of salinity. This independent bottling highlights the individual character of a single cask alongside the distillery’s recognisable coastal style.

Nose: Vanilla toffee, green apple, ripe peach, and barley sugar, accompanied by sea air and a delicate hint of coastal smoke.

Finish: Medium to long, with lingering vanilla, apple skin, toasted barley, drying spice, and a subtle thread of smoke.

Distillery Information

Glen Scotia Distillery was founded in 1832 in Campbeltown, on Scotland’s Kintyre Peninsula. Once a major centre of Scotch whisky production, Campbeltown retains a distinctive whisky-making heritage shaped by its maritime climate and coastal surroundings. Glen Scotia is one of the region’s surviving distilleries and is known for producing single malts with a combination of fruity sweetness, oily texture, maritime notes, and occasional gentle smoke. Independent bottler Douglas Laing was established in Glasgow in 1948 and remains a family-owned Scotch whisky company. It specialises in selecting and bottling whiskies from individual casks and carefully curated collections, with Old Particular focusing on distinctive single-cask expressions from across Scotland.
