Glendalough Calvados XO Cask Finish Irish Whiskey was originally matured in a first fill bourbon barrel before being transferred into a French oak calvados XO cask, which had previously held apple brandy for six years.

Nose: It has very pleasant and lovely aromas.

Palate: Sweet and smooth on the palate with touches of vanilla, honey, orchard fruits, and woody spice.

Finish: Peppery warmth on the finish.

Distillery Information

Glendalough Distillery was founded in 2011 by friends Barry Gallagher, Brian Fagan, Gary McLoughlin and Kevin Keenan with the intent to emphasise traditional methods of Irish distillation in the belief that the industry and market were ready for a return of independent Irish whiskey. For brand inspiration, the friends looked towards the story of Glendalough, a settlement founded by the legendary St. Kevin. Despite supposedly being of noble birth, St. Kevin lived as a hermit, and was said to be at such one with nature that a blackbird laid her eggs on him.
