Detailed Description

Gone Grant is a 30-year-old single malt distilled at the now-closed Caperdonich Distillery in 1995 and bottled in 2026 by Decadent Drinks for its Whiskyland series. Matured in a second-fill bourbon barrel, this limited single-cask release allows the whisky's traditional Speyside character to develop over three decades without being overwhelmed by oak. The result is a richly textured profile of tropical fruit, crystallized honey, and pronounced beeswax, complemented by lemon peel, dried herbs, and delicate wood spice. Bottled at natural cask strength, it showcases an old-school style of Speyside whisky defined by mature fruit, waxy texture, and remarkable depth.

Gone Grant 30 Year Old 1995 - Whiskyland Chapter Thirty Eight (Decadent Drinks) Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Green and yellow tropical fruits, slightly overripe mango, and banana mingle with honey and beeswax. Fresh herbal notes add brightness, while subtle vanilla and citrus bring balance.

Palate: Creamy and distinctly waxy, with crystallized honey, dried tropical fruit, and lemon peel. Cedarwood and sandalwood develop alongside dried herbs, eucalyptus, and drying pepper, creating a layered and textured character.

Finish: Medium to long, with dry wax, honey, warm vanilla, and dried banana chips, followed by a cooling hint of camphor and gentle spice.

Distillery Information

Caperdonich Distillery was established in 1898 in Rothes, Speyside, originally operating as Glen Grant No. 2 across the road from Glen Grant Distillery. After periods of closure and reopening, it adopted the Caperdonich name and continued producing Speyside malt whisky for much of the 20th century. Production ceased permanently in 2002, and the distillery buildings were later demolished. Its spirit remains sought after by whisky enthusiasts for its fruit-forward, often waxy character and its ability to mature gracefully over extended periods. Today, surviving casks from Caperdonich represent a finite part of Speyside's distilling heritage, valued for their connection to a lost distillery.
