Iron Ridge Reserve No.4 takes Richard Hammond's English single malt in a new direction, focusing entirely on the elegance and refinement of French oak. Matured for a full decade in medium-toast casks crafted by renowned French cooperage Radoux Tonnellerie, the whisky develops layers of dried fruit, baked orchard fruit, vanilla and gentle spice. Honeyed brioche and toasted almonds add richness, while silky tannins from the French oak give the whisky a smooth and sophisticated structure. Bottled at 40% ABV and presented unfiltered, this limited 2026 release is a balanced, mature and elegant expression of English single malt.

Nose: Baked orchard fruit and dried fruit, followed by honeyed brioche and toasted almonds. Vanilla and delicate French-oak spice add a refined, gently warming character.

Palate: Dried apricot and soft baked apple lead into vanilla pod, cinnamon and gentle oak spice. Silky tannins provide structure while allowing the fruity English malt character to remain bright and expressive.

Finish: Long, warming and elegant, with lingering dried fruit, vanilla, cinnamon and refined medium-toast French oak. Gentle spice and soft tannic dryness gradually fade with remarkable finesse.

Distillery Information

Hammond's Spirits was founded by British television presenter and motoring enthusiast Richard Hammond, with Iron Ridge named after a hillside ridge near his Lake District home. Hammond partnered with Hawkridge Distillers in Berkshire to develop the whisky range, focusing on sourcing mature English single malt and using carefully selected casks to shape each Reserve's individual character. The Iron Ridge series has explored different maturation styles, from American bourbon and Jack Daniel's casks to more unusual and specialised wood types. Reserve No.4, launched in April 2026, marks the range's first major exploration of exclusively medium-toast French oak from Radoux Tonnellerie. The expression was limited to 10,000 individually numbered bottles and helped establish the continuing Iron Ridge collection as one of the prominent modern collaborations in English whisky.
