Detailed Description
Highland Park is one of two distilleries distilling in Orkney today. Equipped with two pairs of alembics, it produces almost 2.5 million liters of distillate per year. In the last decade, the popularity of the Highland Park single malt has increased significantly, reaching over 2.2 million bottles sold in 2019. Highland Park 12 years old has been a showcase of the distillery for years, but the Hjärta presented here differs from the standard version. The whiskey was matched with a 20% higher share of first fill sherry casks and bottled at cask strength of 58.1% abv. Its name comes from the Norwegian language and means "heart", it also emphasizes the relationship of Orkney with the Vikings. Highland Park Hjärta was launched in 2009 to celebrate the opening of the visitor center and was only available at the distillery. The edition consisted of 3924 bottles.
