A distinctive 17-year-old Inchgower distilled on 26 June 2009 and bottled by Finn Thomson on 1 July 2026. The whisky spent most of its maturation in a refill hogshead before being re-racked into an Oloroso sherry cask in July 2024 for its final two years. This carefully judged finishing period was intended to add complexity rather than overwhelm Inchgower's naturally waxy, oily and gently peppery spirit. Delicate dried fruit, toasted nuts and baking spice are layered over the distillery's distinctive coastal character, creating a balanced and elegant single malt.

Nose: Waxy and lightly oily, with dried fruit, toasted almonds and gentle nutty Oloroso richness. Soft baking spice, subtle oak and a delicate coastal freshness develop beneath the whisky's naturally textured spirit character.

Palate: Smooth and rounded, with a distinctive waxy texture and gentle peppery spice. Dried fruits and toasted nuts are balanced by soft sherry sweetness, oak and restrained baking spices, allowing the underlying Inchgower character to remain clearly defined.

Finish: Medium to long and elegantly warming, with lingering dried fruit, toasted nuts, gentle spice and subtle waxy richness. The Oloroso influence fades gradually alongside Inchgower's lightly oily and peppery character.

Distillery Information

Inchgower Distillery was founded in 1871 near Buckie on the Moray coast and has long been an important producer for Scotland's blended whisky industry. The distillery is known for producing a distinctive Speyside spirit with more weight, waxiness and gentle salinity than many of its floral neighbours. Much of its production has traditionally been used in blends, making independently bottled single malts a particularly interesting way to explore its individual character. Finn Thomson is an independent Scotch whisky bottler with a family heritage in the whisky trade spanning nine generations, focusing on carefully selected casks and thoughtful maturation. Its Core Collection highlights individual distillery character while using cask finishing to add complexity without losing the identity of the original spirit.
