This limited single cask release from the Isle of Raasay Distillery was matured in an American rye whiskey cask from Woodford Reserve in Kentucky, where the rye mash bill sits at 53%. That rye influence brings bold spice, peppery warmth, butterscotch richness, and plenty of fruit, all layered with Raasay’s peated island character. Distilled, matured, and bottled at the Isle of Raasay, this cask strength whisky (60% ABV) is non-chill filtered and natural colour.

Nose: Coastal sea spray leads, joined by cracked black pepper, smouldering wood smoke, vanilla pod, and a little orchard fruit.

Palate: Vanilla and marzipan arrive first, before rye spice builds with pepper, charred oak, smoked malt, and a flicker of butterscotch sweetness.

Finish: Lingering spice, apple peel, dry oak, and a final curl of maritime smoke.

Distillery Information

Situated on the isle of Raasay in the Inner Hebrides, the Isle of Raasay Distillery opened its doors in 2017, ready to start distilling its whisky and gin. The first release from the team was Isle of Raasay Gin, which was also the first legal spirit distilled on the island (though there is a long history of illicit distilling on Raasay going back centuries!). In 2021, Raasay's very first single malt Scotch whisky was released to the world, boasting a lightly peated style to it. Excitingly, the distillery has also got some cool plans for whiskies made using barley grown on the island too!
