Jean Vesselle is a family owned and operated Champagne house based in Bouzy, Reims. The family, which has been making Champagne since the 1800s, owns 15 hectares (37 acres) of vines in the region, of which 90 percent are Pinot Noir and only 10 percent planted to Chardonnay. Vesselle produces a range of wines, including several Blanc de Noirs, the rosé Oeil de Perdrix style, Blanc de Blancs, Brut Natures and Extra Bruts. The family vineyards are all Grand Cru rated. Indeed, the family owns one of Champagne’s smallest, walled Grand Cru vineyards, the “Petit Clos”, planted entirely to Pinot Noir and a stone’s throw from the Vesselle winery in Bouzy. Vesselle also make still red and white wines (both from Pinot Noir) under the Coteaux Champenois appellation.
