Detailed Description
Detailed Description
The most complex edition to date, 2016 is third bottling in the John Walker & Sons Private Collection series, continuing the themes of the incredibly limited Directors' Collection and offering these small batch editions of Johnnie Walker to a wider audience. This edition, titled 'Fine Honeyed Notes', focuses on the sweeter flavours within the Johnnie Walker range, with some of the 100 casks coming from four closed grain distilleries – Caledonian, Cambus, Carsebridge and Port Dundas.
John Walker & Sons Private Collection 2016 Edition Blended Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: The first impression is of the vibrant, fragrant, honeyed notes from the mature Single Grain Scotch Whiskies. These evolve into fresh fruit and light floral notes.
Palate: Sipping the blend, the texture is incredibly soft and creamy. The first Grain Whisky character to appear is a blend of heady, aromatic, honey sweetness. As these myriad flavours swirl around the palate, American oak fudge and vanilla notes of the second Grain Whisky emerge to balance and bring depth.
Finish: A very long finish.
Distillery Information
In 1857, Alexander Walker — Johnnie Walker’s eldest son — inherited the store and began improving its selection of single malt Scotch whiskies. In addition, Alexander had apprenticed with a tea merchant in Glasgow and there, had learned the art of blending tea. Under his stewardship, the House of Walker began blending whisky and bottling it in an iconic, square bottle adorned with a slanted label.
