Tonewood: The Collecttive is a limited-edition collaboration between Whiskey JYPSI and Gibson, bringing guitar craftsmanship and whiskey-making together through the use of toasted maple tonewood offcuts from Gibson's guitar production. The whiskey blends mature 14-year-old whiskey distilled from a bourbon mash bill with 8-year-old straight bourbon before receiving its distinctive maple finish. Bottled at 103 proof, it offers a lighter and more lifted style than the older Tonewood Vol. 1, combining vanilla, graham cracker and light caramel with toasted grain and subtle maple character. The finish remains clean and refined, gradually developing a delicate suggestion of smoke.

Nose: Sweet vanilla and light caramel, followed by graham cracker, toasted grain and gentle maple wood. Subtle warm oak and a delicate smoky note add further depth.

Palate: Smooth and expressive, with vanilla and light caramel balanced by toasted cereal and graham-cracker sweetness. The mature whiskey components provide depth while the toasted Gibson maple contributes a gentle polished-wood character.

Finish: Clean and medium to long, with lingering vanilla, toasted grain and light caramel. The sweetness gradually fades into gentle oak and a subtle, delicate smoky note.

Whiskey JYPSI was co-founded by country musician Eric Church and entrepreneur Raj Alva, with whiskey maker and master blender Ari Sussman playing a central role in developing its distinctive releases. Founded with an emphasis on blending mature American whiskey stocks into unconventional and expressive combinations, the brand has quickly established itself as a modern independent name in American whiskey. The Tonewood collaboration with Gibson reflects this experimental approach by reversing the traditional relationship between the two industries: rather than using old whiskey barrels to make guitars, toasted maple offcuts from Gibson's guitar construction are used to finish whiskey. The Collecttive was introduced in 2026 alongside Tonewood Vol. 1, demonstrating how the same guitar-grade maple can shape two distinctly different whiskey profiles. A portion of proceeds from the Tonewood releases supports Gibson Gives and its charitable work in music education, health and wellness.
