Detailed Description

The whiskey also draws its wonderful aromas to a large extent from the cask in which it spent its long maturation period. He gets dark fruit notes , intense spice aromas and tart oak tones from the sherry cask. The excellent finish also brings a wonderful depth to the flavor profile. Since the barley has been dried over peat, this Karuizawa packs a nice smoke . No caramel has been added. The great color came about naturally. Thanks to its origin and smoothness, the whiskey conveys an incomparable attitude to life and exudes its very special charm.

Karuizawa 1999 Artist #10 Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich, complex. The sumptuous first nose reveals fragrances of fig, blood orange, emery cloth, flambéed banana and liquorice of great distinction.

Palate: Taut, lively. With rare intensity, the superbly liquorice and malty attack reveals notes of coffee, tobacco and dried fruits (date, fig). On the mid-palate, ginger, cinnamon and clove permeate chocolate flavours whose supremely elegant bitterness is a pure delight. Then it is time for heady florals. The end of the palate reveals bouquets of iris, gardenia and geranium delicately placed on antique furniture.

Finish: The start of the finish is very delicately powdery (cocoa, ginger). Escaping from the empty glass comes notes of rosewood, Russian leather, spiced wood and sweet Havana cigar fill the air.
