Lagg Manzanilla Cask is a powerful, heavily peated Small Batch release that combines the distillery's intense maritime style with the dry, saline character of Manzanilla sherry. Initially matured in first- and second-fill bourbon barrels, the whisky was finished for more than a year in first-fill Manzanilla casks from Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Bottled at natural cask strength, it balances coastal peat smoke and sea spray with sweet syrup, maraschino cherry and spiced red fruits. Hot honey and salted minerality add richness and contrast, while the dry sherry influence gives the whisky an especially briny, maritime and complex character.

Nose: Maritime peat smoke and coastal sea spray, with sweet syrup and maraschino cherries. Green olive, dry sherry spice and a subtle briny freshness develop beneath the powerful smoky character.

Palate: Rich and intense, with hot honey, cherry syrup and spiced red fruits. Bold ashen bonfire smoke builds across the palate, balanced by a distinctive salted minerality and oily texture.

Finish: Long, warming and increasingly dry, with lingering ashen bonfire smoke, sea salt and delicate briny minerality. The maritime character and dry Manzanilla spice remain long after the fruit sweetness fades.

Distillery Information

Lagg is a peated single malt Scotch whisky distillery at Kilmory on the southern end of the Isle of Arran. Owned by Isle of Arran Distillers, it was created as the island’s second modern whisky distillery, allowing Lochranza to focus on unpeated Arran single malt while Lagg developed a dedicated heavily peated style.
