A rare 28-year-old Ledaig distilled in 1996 at Tobermory Distillery and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in 2025 as part of the Connoisseurs Choice Cask Strength range. Matured in refill American oak hogshead #88, the single cask yielded only 223 bottles and was bottled at natural cask strength. The long maturation integrates Ledaig’s powerful peat and coastal character with tropical fruit, citrus, mint and mature oak.

Nose: Bright lemon and lime zest with gorse flowers, green apple and clover honey, followed by fresh mint and gentle coastal smoke.

Palate: Ripe pineapple and citrus peel lead into dried banana, guava, walnut and white peach, wrapped in rich, mature peat smoke.

Finish: Long and full, with tropical fruit, black pepper and lingering bonfire embers, leaving a warm maritime smokiness.

Distillery Information

Tobermory Distillery was established in 1798 on the Isle of Mull and is the island’s only working whisky distillery. Its whisky is produced under two distinct identities: the unpeated Tobermory and the heavily peated Ledaig. Ledaig is known for its smoky, maritime style, combining peat, coastal salinity and robust spirit with the influence of carefully selected maturation casks. Gordon & MacPhail’s Connoisseurs Choice range, established in the 1960s, showcases distinctive single malts from individual distilleries, while its Cask Strength releases present selected casks at their natural strength.
