Nose: Bright and inviting aromas of crisp green apples, ripe pear, honeyed malt, vanilla custard, and freshly baked shortbread. Subtle floral notes intertwine with hints of toasted oak and citrus zest.

Palate: Smooth and well-balanced, revealing layers of orchard fruits, golden syrup, caramelized sugar, and creamy malt. Notes of baking spices, toasted almonds, and gentle oak develop across the palate, adding depth and complexity.

Finish: Medium to long and elegantly warming, with lingering notes of vanilla, honey, citrus peel, soft spice, and a delicate oak sweetness.

Distillery Information

Lochlea Distillery is a family-owned farm distillery located in Ayrshire, Scotland, and is one of the few Scotch whisky producers that grows its own barley on-site. Every stage of production—from field to bottle—is carried out at the distillery, giving Lochlea complete control over quality and character. The Red Wine Cask Series was introduced as an annual limited-edition collection exploring the influence of different red wine regions on Lochlea’s house style. Following the Grenache-finished inaugural release, the 2026 edition turns to Tuscan Sangiovese casks, continuing the distillery’s commitment to innovative maturation while remaining firmly rooted in its farm-to-cask philosophy. The result is a whisky that combines youthful vibrancy with increasingly sophisticated cask influence, making it one of Lochlea’s most anticipated annual releases.
