A one litre bottling of Mamont, a top-notch Siberian vodka made with white winter wheat distilled six times and filtered through Siberian birch charcoal. The bottle is shaped like a big ol' tusk, which reminds us that we really should listen to more Fleetwood Mac.
Mamont Vodka | 1L Tasting Notes
Nose: Boiled sweets, cereals. A touch of liquorice, perhaps.
Palate: Grainy, thick palate. A little tangy apple, wood, star anise.
Finish: Creamy, with a resurgence of liquorice.
Distillery Information
The Itkul Distillery is Siberia’s oldest distillery, founded in 1868 at the River Itkul, Altai Region. Konstantin Platonov, a wealthy Russian scientist from St. Petersburg, founded the distillery together with Gregoriy Badyn, a merchant of the second guild. Today, the Itkul Distillery is the only distillery in the whole of Russia to produce alcohol from pure malt. The traditions of the founders are preserved and continuously improved with the use of advanced technologies.
