Detailed Description

Mezcal Metiche is made with Agave Salmiana, also known as maguey cimarro´n. This species grows in the high plateaus of San Luis Potosi´ (right smack in the center of Mexico). The use of this type of agave is regulated by the SEMARNAT (Ministry of Environmental and Natural Resources), who issues extraction licenses for the community and thus the presence of this species, as well as its balance with the ecosystem are guaranteed.

Metiche Artesanal Salmiana Mezcal Tasting Notes

Nose: Aromas of chartcuterie, olive oil, pickled olive brine.

Palate: Strawberry, slight pepper and light smoke on the finish.

Finish: Smooth and refreshing.

Distillery Information

Master mezcalero Juan Hernández Méndez and his wife Hortensia Hernández Martínez both come from multi-generation families of master mezcaleros. Taking into account their children Valente and Lidia, the youngest generation working in the family business, there has been at least five generations of mezcaleros on Hortensia’s side of the family, and four generations on Juan’s side.
