Franzese Wine is an unconventional, mass-market wine brand launched in 2022 by former Colombo crime family caporegime Michael Franzese in partnership with entrepreneur Samvel Hakobyan. Rather than establishing a traditional Italian label reflecting his heritage, Franzese chose to exclusively source and focus his portfolio on ancient Armenian winemaking, intentionally bypassing Italy's oversaturated market to offer something highly distinct and budget-friendly. The brand's grapes are cultivated in high-altitude, volcanic soils at the foothills of Mount Ararat, drawing from Armenia’s 6,000-year viticultural history and utilizing traditional aging techniques—including minimal-intervention fermentation in historic clay vessels known as Karases.
