Mount Gay Batch #001 Exceptionally Aged 15 Year Old is part of the inaugural Exceptionally Aged Collection and represents one of the distillery's first releases to carry a clear age statement. Distilled on a single column still, the rum was matured for a minimum of 15 years in Barbados' tropical climate exclusively in ex-American oak bourbon casks. Grapefruit, buttery pastry and ripe banana combine with vanilla, plum, caramel and gentle cinnamon, while the long maturation adds richness and polished oak complexity. Bottled at 43% ABV without added sugar or flavouring, this limited release offers a refined and balanced expression of mature Barbadian rum.

Nose: Zesty grapefruit, buttery pastry and ripe banana, followed by vanilla, red plum, caramel and a delicate touch of cinnamon.

Palate: Rich butterscotch, vanilla and caramel lead into orange zest and cocoa nibs. Red plum, banana, citrus and red grape notes develop further, balanced by a subtle maritime touch of sea salt.

Finish: Medium in length, smooth and rounded, with lingering vanilla, caramel, cocoa and citrus complemented by a delicate salty note.

Distillery Information

Mount Gay Distillery is located in St. Lucy, Barbados, with documented rum-production roots dating back to 1703, making it one of the oldest continuously operating rum producers in the world. Over more than three centuries, the distillery has developed a distinctive Barbadian style centred on careful distillation, tropical maturation and blending expertise. The Exceptionally Aged Collection represents the work of several generations of Mount Gay Master Blenders, with the 15-year-old spirit originally distilled under former Master Blender Jerry Edwards, its maturation later overseen by Allen Smith, and the final blend selected by current Master Blender Trudiann Branker in 2025. Every drop was distilled, matured, blended and bottled at Mount Gay in Barbados.
