Both expressions were distilled, matured, blended and bottled entirely at Mount Gay in St. Lucy, Barbados, with maturation exclusively in ex-American oak bourbon casks. The 15 Year Old offers a rich yet balanced profile of caramel, vanilla, banana, red plum and citrus, while the 25 Year Old delivers greater concentration through raisin, toffee, roasted nuts, cocoa and warming spice. Together, they provide a rare opportunity to compare two distinct stages of extended tropical maturation from one of Barbados's most historic rum producers.

Nose: The 15 Year Old opens with grapefruit, banana and buttery pastry alongside vanilla, caramel, red plum and gentle cinnamon. The 25 Year Old is deeper and more mature, with vanilla, red fruit, rich caramel, citrus, dark chocolate and warm oak.

Palate: The 15 Year Old is rounded and vibrant, with butterscotch, vanilla, caramel, orange zest, cocoa nibs, red plum, citrus and a subtle touch of sea salt. The 25 Year Old is richer and more concentrated, delivering raisin, smooth toffee and cinnamon alongside roasted nuts, orange zest, nutmeg, cocoa and spiced gingerbread.

Finish: The 15 Year Old finishes medium in length, rounded and smooth, with lingering caramel, vanilla, citrus and gentle oak. The 25 Year Old provides the longer and silkier conclusion, with mature oak, warm spice, cocoa, nutmeg and citrus gradually fading with exceptional depth.

Distillery Information

Mount Gay is one of Barbados's most historic rum producers, with a heritage rooted in more than three centuries of rum making on the island. Located in St. Lucy, Barbados, the distillery has built its reputation around tropical maturation, traditional column and pot-still distillation, and the influence of the island's warm climate. The Exceptionally Aged Collection represents a new chapter for Mount Gay, placing clear age statements at the centre of the range and drawing on stocks laid down by generations of the distillery's master blenders. Current Master Blender Trudiann Branker selected the inaugural 15- and 25-year-old expressions, both produced entirely in Barbados and designed to highlight the intensity and complexity created by extended tropical ageing.
