Mount Gay Exceptionally Aged 15 Year Old is part of the distillery's new age-stated Exceptionally Aged Collection, showcasing rum matured for a minimum of 15 years in Barbados's tropical climate. Matured in ex-bourbon casks and bottled without added sugar or flavouring, it combines rich vanilla, caramel and butterscotch with vibrant tropical and orchard fruit. Orange zest, red plum, banana and cocoa add depth, while a distinctive touch of sea salt brings a subtle Barbadian maritime character. Bottled at 43% ABV and non-chill filtered, this limited release offers a rich yet balanced expression of long-aged Mount Gay rum.

Nose: Zesty grapefruit and ripe banana lead into buttery pastry, vanilla and caramel. Red plum and gentle cinnamon develop alongside the warm influence of long tropical maturation.

Palate: Rich butterscotch, vanilla and caramel open the palate, followed by orange zest and cocoa nibs. Red plum, banana, citrus and red grape notes provide fruitiness and freshness, balanced by a subtle touch of sea salt.

Finish: Medium, rounded and smooth, with lingering caramel, soft vanilla, citrus and gentle cocoa. A delicate salty note remains beneath the fading oak and tropical fruit character.

Distillery Information

Mount Gay is one of Barbados's most historic rum producers, with a heritage rooted in more than three centuries of rum making on the island. Located in St. Lucy, Barbados, the distillery has built its reputation around tropical maturation, traditional column and pot-still distillation, and the influence of the island's warm climate. The Exceptionally Aged Collection represents a new chapter for Mount Gay, placing clear age statements at the centre of the range and drawing on stocks laid down by generations of the distillery's master blenders. Current Master Blender Trudiann Branker selected the inaugural 15- and 25-year-old expressions, both produced entirely in Barbados and designed to highlight the intensity and complexity created by extended tropical ageing.
