Mount Gay Exceptionally Aged 25 Year Old is an ultra-rare single-batch rum distilled in 1999 and matured for a full quarter-century in Barbados. Aged exclusively in ex-American oak bourbon casks, it was shaped through 25 years of tropical maturation before being bottled at 47% ABV. Rich vanilla, red fruit and caramel meet citrus and dark chocolate, while the palate develops through raisins, warm cinnamon and smooth toffee. Roasted nuts, orange zest, nutmeg, cocoa and gingerbread add further complexity, creating a deep and exceptionally mature expression with a long, silky character. Only 2,376 bottles were released worldwide.

Nose: Rich vanilla and caramel, followed by tart red fruits and citrus. Dark chocolate, warm oak and a subtle touch of sea salt add depth and complexity.

Palate: Opulent and deeply layered, with sweet raisin, smooth toffee and warm cinnamon at the centre. Roasted nuts, orange zest and tangy citrus develop alongside nutmeg, cocoa and spiced gingerbread.

Finish: Long, silky and elegant, with lingering oak, warm baking spice, cocoa and gentle citrus. Toffee, nutmeg and gingerbread gradually fade with remarkable depth and smoothness.

Distillery Information

Mount Gay is one of Barbados's most historic rum producers, with a heritage rooted in more than three centuries of rum making on the island. Located in St. Lucy, Barbados, the distillery has built its reputation around tropical maturation, traditional column and pot-still distillation, and the influence of the island's warm climate. The Exceptionally Aged Collection represents a new chapter for Mount Gay, placing clear age statements at the centre of the range and drawing on stocks laid down by generations of the distillery's master blenders. Current Master Blender Trudiann Branker selected the inaugural 15- and 25-year-old expressions, both produced entirely in Barbados and designed to highlight the intensity and complexity created by extended tropical ageing.
