Detailed Description

Distilled in 2016 from the previous year's harvest, this 3-year-old from Bruichladdich's Octomore range is part of the Dialogos series that aims to dispel the idea that Octomore is all about its PPM. Distilled from Scottish Concerto barley and peated to 88ppm (still super heavily peated but nowhere near the heights of past Octomore releases), this edition has been matured in just 28 virgin Limousin oak casks. This release is the youngest from Octomore, but perhaps one of the most impressive.

Octomore 10.4 Dialogos Virgin Oak Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: There is a richness, chocolate, tobacco, bonfire smoke, leather. Vanilla custard, blueberry, dry straw and pear drops.

Palate: Warming, spicy – mulled wine. Leather and tobacco, malt sugar, icing sugar. All wrapped in earthy peaty smoke. Dry on the palate.

Finish: Oak driven, coconut, tobacco, vanilla, then smoke. The time in the cask has calmed the smoke, both through the phenols lowering naturally over time and the influence of the oak becoming greater.

Bruichladdich Distillery is a distillery on the Rhinns of the isle of Islay in Scotland. The distillery produces mainly single malt Scotch whisky, but has also offered artisanal gin. It is owned by Rémy Cointreau and is one of eight working distilleries on the island.
