Port Askaig, an independent whisky label, has sourced its current 33-year-old Scotch from Islay’s largest distillery. Do a little digging and you find that the largest distillery on Islay is Caol Ila. Producing about 115 bottles, the Port Askaig 33 Year Old comes from a single ex-bourbon cask.

Port Askaig 33 Year Old Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Complex orchard, smoke, charred meat, citrus peels, honey and subtle spice, coastal notes, vanilla and oakiness.

Palate: Complex fruit heavier smoke, lemony citrus, honey, charred marshmallows, maritime/coastal notes and a richer, but still subtle spice and oakiness.

Finish: Long Spice, smoke, citrus, orchard fruit and honey.

London-based Elixir Distillers is an independent bottler specialising in whisky, predominantly Scotch but also Japanese, Irish and American whiskies. Owned by the people behind The Whisky Exchange, Elixir Distillers serves as the home for the creation, blending, bottling and international sales for all spirits created by the company. The company’s three core whisky brands are Elements of Islay, Port Askaig and The Single Malts of Scotland, while it also bottles navy rum under the Black Tot brand.
