Powers Irish Rye is produced at the Midleton Distillery using 100% Irish-grown rye, a rare grain in modern Irish whiskey production. The mash bill is fermented and distilled using column still methods, then matured in a combination of virgin, first-fill, and refill American oak casks. This gives it a softer, more rounded profile than many American ryes while still retaining a clear spice backbone. It represents a modern Irish interpretation of rye whiskey, reviving a grain that was historically more common in Ireland before declining over the centuries.
