Proper No. Twelve Black Reserve is a 2026 addition to the Proper No. Twelve range, combining triple-distilled single malt and grain Irish whiskeys aged for a minimum of four years. The blend is matured in first- and second-fill American oak bourbon casks, with heavily charred first-fill barrels intensifying the whiskey's oak influence. Rich caramel, toasted wood and soft vanilla are complemented by toffee, spice and gentle sweetness. Bottled at 40% ABV, it is designed as an approachable but richer expression of the Proper No. Twelve style.

Proper No. Twelve Black Reserve Irish Whiskey Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich caramel, toasted oak and vanilla with sweet grain, light malt and subtle baking spice.

Palate: Smooth and rounded, with caramel, toffee and vanilla followed by toasted wood, gentle spice and sweet malt.

Finish: Medium-long and warming, with lingering caramel, vanilla, toasted oak and soft baking spice.

Distillery Information

Proper No. Twelve was launched in 2018 by Conor McGregor and is produced through a partnership with Bushmills, Ireland's historic whiskey distillery. The brand's whiskey is triple-distilled and built around a blend of Irish single malt and grain whiskey. Proximo Spirits acquired a majority stake in the brand in 2021 and subsequently expanded its portfolio with additional expressions. Black Reserve was introduced in February 2026 as the brand's fourth expression, emphasizing heavily charred American oak and deeper bourbon-cask influence.
