Made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley and then triple distilled in copper pot stills, Redbreast 12 boasts the flavour complexity and distinctive qualities of Pot Still whiskey. Matured in a combination of Bourbon seasoned American Oak barrels and Oloroso Sherry seasoned Spanish oak butts, the distinctive Redbreast sherry style is a joy to behold in each and every bottle. The Cask Strength expression gives a glimpse of Redbreast 12 in its natural, full flavoured taste.

Nose: Juicy fruit salad and dried stone fruits, with peach, sultana and candied orange peel. Vanilla, sherry richness and warm oak spice develop alongside subtle malt and deeper earthy notes.

Palate: Silky, rich and full-bodied, with layers of stewed and spiced fruits, creamy vanilla and mellow oak. Apple compote, fruitcake and toasted vanilla sweetness are balanced by the distinctive warming spice and powerful natural strength of the whiskey.

Finish: Long, warming and richly spiced, with sherried fruit, robust barley and building oak. Baking spices and dried fruit linger alongside a gentle sweetness and warming pot still character.

Distillery Information

Redbreast traces its roots to W & A Gilbey, the wine and spirits merchant that began selling Jameson whiskey under its own labels in the late 19th century. The first official use of the Redbreast name appears in 1912, when Gilbey’s was selling Redbreast J.J. Liqueur Whiskey 12 Years Old. The name itself is linked to the robin redbreast and is attributed to a former Gilbey chairman who was known as a bird-fancier.
