A limited 11-year-old Royal Brackla distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2025 as part of Duncan Taylor’s The Octave series. Matured in a single Pedro Ximénez sherry octave cask #9346593, this cask-strength release was limited to just 87 bottles. The compact octave cask intensifies the interaction between whisky, oak and PX sherry, creating a richly concentrated profile of dried fruit, dark chocolate, toffee and warming spice.

Nose: Rich raisins, figs and dates with dark toffee, cocoa and orange zest, followed by vanilla, warm oak, spice and a touch of roasted almond.

Palate: Velvety and intensely sherried, with raisin, fig and date alongside toffee, vanilla and dark chocolate. Cinnamon, ginger, orange zest and gentle oak tannins add warmth and structure.

Finish: Long, luxurious and warming, with lingering PX sweetness, prune, raisin and fig layered with cocoa, toffee, vanilla and soft oak spice.

Distillery Information

Royal Brackla was founded in 1812 near Cawdor in the Scottish Highlands and became one of the earliest Scotch whisky distilleries to receive a Royal Warrant, granted by King William IV in 1833. The distillery has traditionally produced a refined, fruit-forward Highland malt that has also played an important role in blended whisky. Royal Brackla is now part of the Bacardi-owned Dewar’s portfolio. Samaroli, founded by Silvio Samaroli in Italy, became one of Europe’s most respected independent whisky bottlers, particularly renowned for selecting distinctive single casks and presenting them with an emphasis on individual character.
