A deep amber-gold in color, Batch No. 1 is an expressive and balanced whiskey that drinks beautifully at only three years old. With notes of orange, clove, vanilla and pronounced rye spice it is delightful in a glass neat or with a small cube of ice. In a cocktail it makes a distinctive and complex Manhattan, while the citrus and spice notes make it a compelling substitute for gin in a Negroni.

Nose: Orange, clove and brown sugar, with fresh orchard fruit and subtle grain sweetness beneath the rye-forward spice.

Palate: Bright orange and apple lead into vanilla and warm baking spice. Malted grain adds softness and complexity while the rye remains vibrant and expressive.

Finish: Medium to long, with lingering rye spice, gentle vanilla, dried citrus and a warming peppery character.

Distillery Information

Silver Brothers Spirits Company is a New York farm distillery located on a historic 220-acre property in Old Chatham in the Hudson Valley. Founded in 2020 by Matthew Greitzer and his family, the project was created to revive and reinterpret the region's agricultural and rye-whiskey heritage. The distillery grows rye and barley on its farm, controlling production from grain through distillation, maturation and bottling. Silver Brothers uses traditional alembic copper pot stills and ages its whiskey in an unconditioned dunnage-style warehouse, allowing New York's seasonal climate to influence maturation naturally. The distillery's focus on estate-grown grain and the Empire Rye designation reflects its commitment to producing whiskey with a strong sense of Hudson Valley provenance.
