Smooth Ambler Old Scout 7 Year Old Straight Bourbon Whiskey

When the Smooth Ambler folks are out and about, they'll come across a great bourbon, as you do (remind me to visit America some time soon), and bottle it under the Old Scout name in homage to the Scottish and Irish tradition of independent bottlings. This is a 7 year old straight bourbon, made with a mashbill of 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malt which has been bottled at their distillery in West Virginia at 49.5% abv.

Smooth Ambler Old Scout 7 Year Old Straight Bourbon Whiskey Tasting Notes

Nose: Cinnamon and ginger biscuits - wonderfully sweet with some yummy spice underneath. Slightly nutty.

Palate: Luxurious caramel, cane sugar and vanilla. Then there's the spice coming through once again, with rich rye in tow.

Finish: A hot finish of cinnamon, more rye and maybe even a little coffee.
