Strathmill North Star Single Cask 19 Year Old · 2007 Vintage Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Bright honeyed malt with creamy vanilla and orchard fruits—pear and apple—lifted by hints of citrus zest. Soft oak spice and a whisper of white pepper add edge, while a waxy, elegant note lends refinement. Subtle almond paste and a touch of gentle toffee emerge as the nose settles, revealing the cask's quiet depth.

Palate: Silky and full on the palate, Strathmill delivers a creamy, orchard-fruit sweetness—pear and apple—woven with vanilla, toffee and a touch of honey. Subtle spice—white pepper and nutmeg—laces through toasted oak, adding gentle lift. The finish is long and refined, with citrus brightness and a warm cask-strength glow that lingers invitingly.

Finish: Long, elegant finish with creamy vanilla and oak-spiced sweetness that slowly fades into orchard fruit and a touch of almond. The 56.9% ABV lends a warming pepper and toffee heat that lingers, leaving a citrus zest and a whisper of polished malt. An enduring, velvety fade, with refined spice and a final, honeyed warmth that invites another sip.

Distillery Information

Strathmill was founded in Keith in 1891 on the site of an earlier corn mill, and for its first few years it was known as Glenisla-Glenlivet. In 1895 it was bought by gin company W. & A. Gilbey, which renamed it Strathmill, a name that still reflects the distillery’s milling origins. Strathmill remains one of the lesser-known working Speyside distilleries, despite sitting in one of Scotland’s best-known whisky towns.
