It was matured in a 1st-fill bourbon barrel, with just 226 bottles drawn from cask #12. The high-strength bottling preserves the whisky’s concentrated malt, vanilla, orchard-fruit and oak character.

Nose: Rich vanilla, sweet malt and fresh orchard fruits, with creamy cereal notes, honey, coconut and warming oak spice.

Palate: Intense and full-bodied, bringing vanilla custard, honeyed malt, baked apple and pear alongside caramel, toasted oak and peppery spice.

Finish: Long, hot and warming, with lingering vanilla, sweet malt, oak, pepper and dried orchard fruit.

Distillery Information

Tamdhu was founded in 1897 at Knockando in Speyside and was designed by renowned distillery architect Charles Doig. The distillery has historically supplied malt whisky for blending, while its modern single malt releases emphasize the character of carefully selected maturation. After periods of closure during the 20th century, Tamdhu was acquired by Ian MacLeod Distillers in 2011, with production resuming in 2013. Woodrow’s of Edinburgh is an independent bottler whose Warehouse Reserve collection focuses on individually selected single casks, generally bottled at natural cask strength without chill filtration or added colouring.
