The Macallan Sherry Oak 18 Year Old 2026 Release is the latest annual edition of one of the distillery's most celebrated mature single malts. Matured for a minimum of 18 years on The Macallan Estate, predominantly in sherry-seasoned European oak casks from Jerez, Spain, it delivers the rich, robust and intensely sherried character associated with the collection. Concentrated dried fruits, sticky dates and sultanas are balanced by stem ginger, dark chocolate and warming oak spice. Full-bodied and polished, it combines deep sherry richness with refined vanilla sweetness and mature oak, while retaining The Macallan's signature elegant fruit character.

Nose: Treacle tart and stem ginger with soaked raisins and sultanas. Orange, ground cinnamon and rich dried fruits develop alongside subtle polished oak and dark chocolate.

Palate: Full-bodied and richly textured, with dark-chocolate-coated ginger, sticky dates and dried apricots. Mature oak and warming spice are balanced by a subtle vanilla sweetness and concentrated sherried fruit.

Finish: Long, soft and elegantly warming, with lingering dried fruits, dark chocolate, ginger and refined oak spice. Gentle tannins and fading sherry richness leave a polished, enduring finish.

Distillery Information

Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
