Torabhaig The Distiller's Series - Niall's First Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML

90% Lightly peated malt with the remainder being 5% each of Brown and Crystal malts. Maturation in first-fill Bourbon and Rum casks. Label is by local Skye artist who worked with Niall to create something that represented his upbringing (grew up about a mile from distillery and his dad is a sailor, so he used to sail over to the bay where Torabhaig is), and the maritime character of his whisky.

Nose: Bright cooked pineapple, guava and pear drops, layered with vanilla and golden syrup. Soft ember ash, sweet char and a gentle beachside-campfire smokiness add a distinctly coastal character.

Palate: Fresh and mouth-watering, opening with juicy orange and tropical fruit. Malty biscuit and soft vanilla develop alongside subtle sea salt and brine, while a lightly oily texture carries gentle spice and restrained peat smoke.

Finish: Long and warming, with increasingly complex spice, gentle ashy peat and lingering tropical sweetness. Vanilla and soft coastal smoke remain as the whisky gradually fades.

Distillery Information

Only the second ever licensed Single Malt Scotch Whisky distillery on the Isle of Skye, only 200 years in the waiting until 2020 resulted in the first single malt whisky produced by Torabhaig distillery. After a painstaking 4 year restoration and build, Torabhaig has been fully operational since January 2017. The distillery was built on the old farmstead at Torabhaig, identified as the perfect location for a small, traditional distillery with the huge added bonus of the purest island spring water available just on its doorstep.
