      Detailed Description

An elegant cool-climate Chardonnay from Traiguén in Chile’s Malleco Valley, sourced from vines planted in 1993 on deep clay soils of volcanic origin. The wine combines intense citrus and green-apple fruit with mineral notes, toasted hazelnut and subtle herbal nuances. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, followed by nine months of maturation on the lees with regular bâtonnage, adding texture and complexity while preserving the wine’s naturally vibrant acidity. The palate is concentrated and fresh, finishing long, fruity and mineral with well-integrated French oak.

      Producer Information

Viña Aquitania was founded in 1984 by Felipe de Solminihac together with French partners Bruno Prats, Ghislain de Montgolfier and the late Paul Pontallier. The winery is based in Santiago, while its pioneering Malleco Valley vineyard was planted in Traiguén in 1993, helping establish the region as an important source of Chilean cool-climate wines. Sol de Sol Chardonnay was first produced in 2000 and became one of the winery’s signature wines, demonstrating the potential for age-worthy, mineral-driven Chardonnay in southern Chile.
