Wire Works Caduro X is a special limited-edition release created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of White Peak Distillery and its home at The Wire Works. Built on the foundation of the distillery's Caduro expression, it combines first-fill ex-bourbon barrels with White Peak's signature STR casks—shaved, toasted and re-charred former red-wine casks. The vatting includes both regular-cut and alternative-cut single malts, creating a brighter profile with enhanced tropical fruit character and a subtle increase in peat influence. The whisky is brought to bottling strength using the distillery's innovative “special waters” technique, adding further texture and flavour. Rich, sweet and spicy, Caduro X combines orchard and tropical fruits, toffee and chocolate with a delicate thread of smoke.

Nose: Banoffee pie and egg custard tarts open the nose, joined by Murray mints and a whisper of peat. Candy-wine gums mingle with warm wood spice, while baked apple, strawberry laces and orange zest weave through a bright, dessert-savoured aroma with a subtle, smoky undercurrent.

Palate: Cinnamon rolls and butter icing unfold with pineapple cubes, milk chocolate and yoghurt-coated cranberries, a marmalade brightness weaving through the palate. Gentle tannins shape the sweetness, finished with nutmeg and a whisper of spice.

Finish: Cinder toffee and candied ginger lead into cinnamon balls, honey, and apple sours, finishing with gentle wood smoke.

Distillery Information

White Peak Distillery was founded in 2016 by Max and Claire Vaughan in Ambergate, becoming Derbyshire’s first full-scale craft distillery and the first whisky distillery in the Peak District region. Housed in the former Johnson & Nephew Wire Works on the banks of the River Derwent, within the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site, it has built its identity around a strong sense of Derbyshire provenance and the industrial history of its home.
